Brian McAuley is a Principal Consultant with Verdant Associates. Brian has extensive experience providing program evaluation of distributed energy resources and market research to utilities and regulatory agencies. His expertise is in analyzing and quantifying the impacts of behind-the-meter distributed energy resources and understanding how these systems interact with each other (e.g., solar PV and storage).
Brian has a broad understanding of the relationship between the competing use cases for energy storage and his work has provided clarity into the inherent trade-offs in design and implementation of an energy storage rebated program. His knowledge and experience studying the behavior and impacts of these systems provide utilities and regulatory agencies with ways in which they can maximize the benefits of distributed energy resources.
When not being an agnostic and committed evaluator, Brian enjoys mountain biking, skiing and spending every minute possible with his wife and their son. Brian received his B.A. in Anthropology and English from the State University of New York, Albany, and his Masters in Environment Management from the Nicholas School of the Environment, Duke University.
